Tempus Fugit: away alertly, dictated off rail, asked,

chased, no match |
| 1 |
Catboat: rated, inside, roused, angled out, 1/4 pole,
rallied, no threat |
| 2 |
Mariaworth: evenly, second flight, roused, late stride,
no factor |
| 3 |
Code of Ethics: speed,
pressed pace, rail, chased, weakened, upper stretch |
| 5 |
Maria's Pride: unhurried early, 4 wide, backside,
roused, no late rally |
| 4 |
Moogedy: trailed, roused, never involved |
| Footnotes |
|
TEMPUS FUGIT broke sharply for an
immediate lead, controlled the pace racing a little off the rail, asked for
more near the 3/8 pole, quickly responded to widen margin entering the
stretch, was never threatened and won under wraps at the finish. INDY GROOVE
raced in good stalking position while three wide down the backside, was
urged mid turn, began to chase the winner under a drive at the 1/4 pole,
proved no match but was clearly second best in hard effort. CATBOAT was
rated from the start, raced towards the inside throughout, roused mid turn
and rallied near the 1/4 pole, closed in a willing manner for the stretch
run but never threatened the winner. MARIAWORTH raced evenly in second
flight, was roused mid turn, angled out top of the lane, gave a late gain
but proved no factor. CODE OF ETHICS broke well, raced
up close to TEMPUS FUGIT along the rail to the half, was asked for more far
turn, gave no response and chased under a drive, was all done turning for
home. MARIA'S PRIDE was unhurried from the start, raced 4 wide to the
half, was asked far turn, lacked response and never factored. MOOGEDY
trailed throughout, was hard ridden near the 1/4 pole, never responded.

Code of Ethics makes her 2nd start of
the year at Arlington over 1 mile on the turf
From DRF
5/27/2005
The race
should have a hot pace, but if Code of Ethics is willing to rate off of it, she
has a good chance to win. Code of Ethics ran poorly three weeks ago at Churchill
in her first start of the season, but was beaten only a neck by the top filly
Shadow Cast in the Pago Hop last winter on the Fair Grounds turf, and was second
to Humorous Miss here last season in an overnight grass stakes.

The filly ran her first race back in 2005 at Churchill Downs on Derby week.
This was a very tough race and she ram well for 6f and then dropped back. This
is a good start to the year.

SISTER SWANK went up early to track
front-running INDY GROOVE four wide under light rating, inched to challenge
on the far turn, reached the front briefly just before going six furlongs,
lost the edge back to INDY GROOVE, took over again before entering the
stretch, opened a clear lead, then held sway under strong handling. NOISETTE,
never far back while racing in behind the leaders two or three wide, angled
five wide for the rive and was gaining at the end. MAY GATOR, away well and
taken in hand, followed the leaders within easy striking distance four or
five wide, loomed a strong threat between foes in the final furlong but
couldn't muster the needed response. GALLOPING GAL, reserved early near the
inside, circled horses seven wide into the stretch and was slowly gaining at
the end. INDY GROOVE gained the advantage near the inside early, was headed
by the winner just prior to going six furlongs, regained a slight edge soon
after but weakened when entering the stretch. CODE OF
ETHICS forced the pace three or four wide for six furlongs and tired.

CAT ALERT drifted out slightly at the
start, gained a slim lead three wide while dueling under snug restraint
inside of GAMBLE TO VICTORY, went along through moderate fractions while
alternating for the advantage and drew off in the stretch under hand urging.
JACQUI'S PROMISE settled three wide within easy striking distance, remained
inside the leaders for the drive and was not a threat to the winner as
second best. GAMBLE TO VICTORY lunged in the air at the start, went up soon
after to alternate for the lead outside of CAT ALERT, battled forwardly to
the lane and faltered. BEAUTIFUL BETS followed the leaders within easy
striking distance four or five wide, came out farther on the course entering
the stretch and weakened. |

The filly ran a great race on the main track not the
turf as originally planned. She led from the first bend and said "catch me if
you can" in the straight to win by 5 lengths.

stalked the pace from just outside but was no match for the winner in the
drive. DANCING LIEBLING lacked speed, angled out four wide for the drive and
rallied belatedly. BOLSHOI BALLET lacked speed and improved her position in
the drive. CATS COPY raced three wide and gave way. SHAKE ME DOWN gave way
in the drive. SAUNTERING was always outrun and pulled up in the stretch.

The filly finished a very
disappointing 10th in the Pucker Up Stakes. We had hoped for a much better run
but shed pressed the pace hard early and paid for it at the end of the race.

HUMOROUS MISS lacked speed, angled out
for the drive and rallied for a late decision. CODE OF
ETHICS raced four wide near the middle of the field, rallied to the lead in
the stretch then could not hold off the winner. SEAN'S BABY lacked
speed, angled out and gained belatedly for a share. POETS AND ANGELS raced
close up just outside and weakened. BONANZA JELLYBEAN was never a factor.
NATIVE ANNIE was a bit fractious in the gate and was always outrun. BAXTER
HALL was a bit fractious in the gate and was always outrun. DEFUHR set the
pace from the inside and tired. (Race run in lane 1, rail at 0.)

Well the filly tried her best. She got to the lead and set a good pace
turning into the finishing straight she was cut across and lost her momentum a
little but fought back for 4th place. It was a good education and she is
learning all the time.

just outside, took over in the stretch and drew clear under urging. BARREL
RACER lacked speed inside, split horses in upper stretch and gained the
place but could not threaten the winner. DANCING LIEBLING lacked speed while
not far back, moved up in the stretch then lacked a winning late bid.

Hawthorne Race Card Analysis - Race 1 – Maiden special
weight runners open up a big racing card as six are set to line up in the
opener. Pace makes this race as Miss Legend likely will head to the front, but
stamina is this one’s problem. Because of that, I expect MYSTERIOUS TRUTH to get
the job done as she makes her first start her and third career start. She added
blinkers in her last race at Fair Grounds and posted a much improved effort in
that start. The added distance shouldn’t be a problem and she may be a decent
price. MISS LEGEND is the speed to burn as stamina is her only issue. She held
the lead into the lane in her last through very slow fractions and didn’t have
enough to finish in that spot. If she can spring clear early and slow things
down, she’ll have a shot, but if challenged, she may toss in the towel.
SUGARTONITEINMYTEA is one that gets Lasix for the first time after 12 starts.
She’s the one that could benefit most if there’s a quick pace in here as she’ll
be looking to close late. I like that she closed off the slow pace in her last
ans she should be a price today.
